Marcus: We open our play in the land of Turmish, in the highest peaks of the Aphrunn, the nearest town away by weeks...
A dark and neglected castle sits amidst the blowing drifts of snow... a silent sentinel that watches the path of histories far below...
And in this castle, my master lives. A sorcerer of the kind that time forgives, vaults of ancient knowledge in his thoughts... but his aged heart twists and rots.
My master taught me much of magic and spell, but I learned much more when winter fell...
For with the snow came a woman lost... Karenina she was, a naive lamb, but 'twas she and my master both that paid the cost...
Karenina: What... what transpires here? A ruin, a castle... is it abandoned and empty? Is there no one to tell me where I am? Oh, I shall die here alone...
Velden: You shall not die here this day, woman of the lands below. I shall call my servant to tend to you, quickly. But then you must go, I fear.
Karenina: Wait, good sir! What do you mean? Why must I leave?
Velden: Ask no more questions, woman, but come inside from the cold. The keep is warm enough, for now, and the boy will come as he was told.
Karenina: But... have you no name, good sir? Is my savior a blank enchantment in this place?
Velden: I... am the wizard Velden. Does this frighten you?
Karenina: No, for I know the name not, your Grace. But I... I am Karenina.

Karenina: Why do you turn me away, good Velden? Why are you so cold?
Velden: You do not understand... I have watched centuries... unfold. You are but a passing flame. I cannot embrace you as you wish, Karenina, this cannot be.
Karenina: But why? I do not see! Will you live your years in this empty hall, barren and friendless? Is that your life? Is that all?
Take your passion while you may, good Velden! Accept my love and warm your hearth this once!
Velden: To accept... would be a pain for me I cannot speak. Do not do this, good Karenina, I beg you, fly away...
Karenina: No, my love! Be touched by pain and be alive! Accept this... kiss... Forget your endless years and thrive...

Marcus: I do not understand, my master... why do you cry so? What have you done to Karenina?
Velden: The kindest and cruelest act that I could summon, good pupil. The lass is gone. Now go.
Marcus: Gone? She is dead, then?
Velden: Karenina wished to join me in my neverending life, good Whitten. But even I could not wish upon another such a fate. But, truer still, I could not bear to part with her... my wife.
Marcus: You... you are married, my master?!
Velden: Aye. Married now and forever more. Karenina will stand forever for me to look upon... and she will not suffer the long years nor the pain that would make her weep...
For Karenina is now eternal stone... and in that blessed stone forever shall she sleep...
Marcus: You... you did that...?
Velden: Now go, my pupil... leave me with my bride. I shall touch her cold and unrelenting cheek once more... tonight a part of me has died inside.
Death by pieces, small and many though they are...

马可斯：我们的戏在特米叙的土地上开演，在艾弗伦最高的峰顶，在几星期内所能到达最近的城镇……
一座晦暗且遗世独立的城堡伫立在大雪纷飞中……一个沉默的士兵低头望着历史的足迹……
我的主人住在这个城堡中。一个被时间遗忘的巫师，思想中充满祖先的智慧，但他的心却因岁月的摧残而扭曲残破……
我的主人教了我许多的魔法跟符咒，但当冬天来临时我所学的就更多……
随着瑞雪落下，一个女人不见了……她是凯伦妮娜，一只无邪的羔羊，但是她跟我的主人都付出了代价……
凯伦妮娜：这里……这里发生了什么事？一座废墟，一座城堡……是荒废空荡的吗？没有人能告诉我，我究竟在哪里？哦，我将在此孤单地死去……
维尔丹：你今日将不会死在此处，下地的女人。我会立刻叫我的仆人来接待你，但是恐怕你就得要走了。
凯伦妮娜：等等，好心的先生！你的意思是什么？为什么我一定要离开？
维尔丹：女人，不要再问了，进来避寒吧。这屋里还算温暖，仆人很快就会过来。
凯伦妮娜：但是……你没有名字吗，先生？难道我的救命恩人只是此处的一道幻影吗？
维尔丹：我……是巫师维尔丹。这吓着你了吗？
凯伦妮娜：不，大人，我并不知道您的大名。但是我……我叫凯伦妮娜。

凯伦妮娜：维尔丹，你为什么掉头拒绝我？你为什么如此冷淡？
维尔丹：你并不明白……我已见识过百年岁月……在我眼前溜过。你只是偶然出现的一阵火光。我无法依你希望的那样拥抱你，凯伦妮娜，我办不到。
凯伦妮娜：可是为什么？我一点也不明白！难道你要在这空荡荡的大厅就这样渡过余生，空虚而且没有朋友？这就是你的生命？就只是这样吗？
维尔丹，趁你还有热情的时候敞开心胸吧！现在就接受我的爱，温暖你的心！
维尔丹：接受……将成为我无法言喻的痛苦。别这么做，好心的凯伦妮娜，我求求你，快些离开吧……
凯伦妮娜：不，我的爱！生命因痛苦而感动，生命因爱情而有意义！接受我这……一吻……忘掉你无尽的年岁，振奋起来……

马可斯：我不明白，我的主人……为何你哭得这么伤心呢？是你对凯伦妮娜做了些什么吗？
维尔丹：徒儿这是我所想出最仁慈，但也是最残酷的表现。那位女士已经走了，你也可以离开了。
马可斯：走了？她是死了吗？
维尔丹：慧顿，凯伦妮娜希望与我共享不死的寿命。虽然我并不希望别人遭受和我同样的命运，但事实上，我同样也无法忍受和她……我的妻子，忍受和她分离的痛苦。
马可斯：我的主人，你……你结婚了？！(游戏中的译文为：你……你结过婚，我的主人？！)
维尔丹：诶，结了婚永为夫妻。凯伦妮娜将在此永远供我凝望……她无须忍受长久岁月的折磨，也无须忍受会让她哭泣的痛苦……
因为凯伦妮娜已变成了永恒的石像……她将在这祝福的石躯当中永远沉睡……
马可斯：你……你干的？
维尔丹：去吧，我的徒儿……让我和我的新娘独处。我将再度碰触她冰冷毫不动容的脸庞……今夜我心中的一角也随之死去。
零散的死亡，虽然小，但是却众多纷乱……
还有什么样残酷的命运……等着永恒的星辰？
